Linda's talents developed when she received a 14" girl doll for Christmas in the 3rd grade. She began making her clothes from pictures in catalogs - at first by hand, and then finally when she was ten her mother taught her how to use the sewing machine. Linda made her own clothes through 4-H and her mother’s guidance. Over the years of raising four children and working as a RN, she made all their clothing and dabbled in all kinds of crafts: oil painting; spinning and weaving; stenciling; making stuffed animals and dolls; gardening; and even trying her hand at raising chickens, cows, and milk goats.

Linda was always a jack of all trades and a master of none until the late 80’s when she thought she had found her creative niche making and costuming antique reproduction dolls. She had been collecting teddy bears and started designing them as accessories for her dolls. Her customers showed an interest in buying these small bears and soon started asking how much the bears were. Linda then invested in a $10.00 bag of mohair scraps from a bear artist and her business took off from there. Her first bears were styled after antique bears in her collection and she quickly began developing her own designs.

Linda now makes bears full time devoting ten to twelve hours a day to making bears. Most of her bears are limited editions, generally of 50 or less. She also enjoys making one-of-a-kind bears. Linda takes special steps to make each bear in an edition look like the first one. She receives comments about her wonderful workmanship, sweet faces, and great noses. She accepts these comments graciously, but she is always striving to improve.
